SIMON DE PURY

PRESENTATION

2009 Simon De Pury shocked us by handing over 2.500 images with the request to create a book out of the material.
After grouping the pictures this way around and that way, we decided to bring the lots in order and find linking images to connect them. We still ended up with way too many pictures to squeeze them into one book. It still may have turned into a block of around 1600 sheets of paper. Not a book, but a paper tower
So, we created a film running 25fps to see how the images would fit together and through this process could pin-point the pictures which really are disturbing the flow.
The film below is one version away from the final selection of 424.
Sit very closely to the screen and replay and replay and replay when the film stops. It sort of hypnotised me for a couple of days.
The final film will be projected at the opening night of the exhibiton.

WHAT IS DANCING ABOUT?

TANZ IM AUGUST, HAU 123

PRESENTATION

2004 Communicating a dance festival can be some sort of classical, or avantgarde, or just odd.
Well, we thought so too. And in the preparation for the presentation we came across this fun to look at documentary from the mid seventies on the punk scene in Great Britain.
Yes, dancing is about having fun.
This is what we’ve presented to make a point at the end of our speech.

Cinematorapher Unknown. Although we have tried very hard to find out who was responsible for the filming. It could have been a cinema commercial then.

THE RIECKHALLEN GUIDANCE SYSTEM

HAMBURGER BAHNHOF - MUSEUM FUER GEGENWART - BERLIN, KUEHN MALVEZZI ARCHITECTS, STAATLICHE MUSEEN ZU BERLIN

PRESENTATION

2003 Our friends at Kuehn Malvezzi Architects and the director of the State Museums of Berlin asked us to develop a guidance system for the Rieckhallen which should harbour the Friedrich Christian Flick Collection.
Of course we thought of the design and the positioning of the system. But the Rieckhallen are a converted 300 meter long warehouse like building. So the question we asked ourselves was how to present the feasibility of the system to the committee.
The best way to do this we thought was to create a sort of Vectrex like game to let them walk through the building to see for themselves.
